Pinnularia spp
Diatom
Pinnularia spp., a Diatom. A large group of aquatic algae, generally single celled enclosed by a cell wall made from silia (silicon dioxide). They contribute a significant fraction of oxygen in the atmosphere. They are numerous in moorland bogs and lowland temporary pools in Redmire.
